The Times of London iPad Edition Updated – Adds Multiple Editions for Big News Days and More

The Times of London – the iPad edition of the popular British broadsheet newspaper – has been updated this week, to Version 2.4. One of the most notable changes in the update is that the title will now offer multiple editions on ‘big news days’. Up to now, a new edition has been issued daily.

This is nice step for the paper, but it’s still got a long way to go to catch up with titles like (sister publication) The Daily, USA Today, and others that are updated continually throughout each day – or that may never be part of the plan for The Times’ iPad version.

Here’s the full list of changes in the 2.4 update:

We have comprehensively updated the content and functionality of the Times iPad edition.
New features include:
Multiple editions on big news days
An improved reading experience in both orientations
The Saturday package as you’ve never seen it – featuring the Magazine, Weekend, Saturday Review and Sport
Animation-rich interactive graphics
Exclusive digital content from the archive
More Mind Games – complete our three Su Doku puzzles against the clock

One nice change I noticed straight away after updating the app is that it now downloads a new issue mostly in the background, and lets you begin reading it when it only around 15-20% downloaded.

Here’s an App Store link for The Times of London; it’s a free app with subscription options available via In-App purchase.
