One bit of frustration I have had with the Apple Music app on my iPhone is navigation. While the basics of finding music actually work fine for me, it is the process of backtracking later on where I run into problems. If I search for music, I often find myself back at the Library screen and having to perform the same search again to get back to my results.
One of the areas where Apple’s iOS has excelled since early days is in Parental Control options. While others have caught up and Amazon has even passed them when it comes to granular, on-device options, Apple is still at or near the top when it comes to restricting music streaming. In fact, several of their competitors have little to nothing in the way of content ratings restrictions for music.
As a contractor, I can tell you that PDF documents are the industry standard in my world. You don’t have to fuss with security settings or worry about them being altered the same way that you do with a Word doc, or other editable document style. If I am sending a customer a quote, it’s going to be saved as a PDF. If I’m sending a scan of a hard copy of something- PDF. When I get blueprints and specifications for a job to look at for bidding- PFD. If I am sending out a final copy of a project submittal or owner’s manual- PDF. These documents were all created using something else, such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD, etc, but they all end up as PFDs in the end. As the full file name suggests, PDF is all about portability.
Let’s be honest, sometimes it can look a bit weird to the uninitiated outsider when they see you magically waving your fingers in different ways all over your shiny iPad (things look even weirder if you start talking to it via Siri too). However, from a user’s point of view, gestures on the iPad can really speed things up on a productivity level. Here is a guide to all of the major gestures in iOS 7. Practice makes perfect here and the more you use these gestures, the more you will find yourself flying through your iPad.
The five fingered grab
If you are in an app and you want to get back to the home screen quickly, put all five fingers on the screen and ‘grab’ your fingers together to a point. Graphically, you will see the app shrink and then disappear into the home screen.
