You were going to buy a Kindle, but that geek husband of yours surprised you with an iPad. You love the color pictures and video, but it wasn’t till today’s hike that you really understood the value of his gift. Not only were you able to read about the lake trail, but iPad’s GPS got you right to the trail head. Having downloaded “Living Trail Guide,” then checking the weather and time of sunset, you knew it would be good hike and you’d be back by dark. All this and your husband never had to stop for directions! You couldn’t have done this with a Kindle – he may never let you live it down.
iPad – It’s alive!
A great many iPhone apps would benefit from the larger screen real estate provided by the iPad. However, there are quite a few apps that are fine in their current format. In one of my many day dreams… I see Apple providing a framework that allows 4 normal-sized iPhone apps to run simultaneously. Not only does this allow us to mashup our favorite apps, but we can cut-and-paste text, images, video and audio in-between apps. Whoa hang on, since it is my day dream… we can drag-and-drop text, images, video and audio in-between apps… there that’s better.
iPad – the ultimate iPhone masher-upper.

iCRco introduced their image viewing application, iClarity, for the iPhone at the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America) trade show in 2009. According to iCRco website, “With this app a radiologist can configure an existing Clarity PACS to mirror the archive to his or her iPhone instantly. This allows the radiologist to see the patient list, studies waiting to be read, and can decide whether the patient needs immediate attention.” I believe the iPad will make an even better medical viewer and apparently iCRco agrees. They have added “iPad” to their app store documentation. Continue reading

The need for accurate and up-to-date information is no greater than with law enforcement. However, access to to this information is often limited by how the long arm of the law gets around. With iPad, our friends in blue have access to everything they need regardless of their ride. Powerful enough for any cruiser, compact enough for backpack or saddle. Sometimes big solutions really do come in small packages. Continue reading
Doctor’s offices are becoming more modern and more impersonal all the time. Instead of a face-to-face interview with your healthcare professional, they are sitting on the other side of the room, staring at a computer screen. Continue reading
