WWDC Wishlist Part Three- Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has quickly become one of the big stars in Apple’s hardware lineup. In three years, it has basically taken over the wearables market and become the world’s de facto smartwatch. A big reason for this is Apple’s investment in the platform and consistent innovation. They have already released one major re-write of watchOS (watchOS 3), have delivered four total updates to watchOS in three years, and have released one major hardware upgrade. That’s a lot of change in a short amount of time, especially for Apple.

Outcast is a Good Example of What Apple Watch Apps Can Be

The situation with Apple Watch apps got some unexpected attention this week thanks to articles from noted Apple enthusiasts Marco Arment and John Gruber. In my opinion, it is good to get people thinking and talking about this again, because apps often seem to be the forgotten aspect of Apple’s sleeper-hit wearable platform. However, while I am glad to see attention being paid to this subject, I disagree with both of these articles, especially Mr Gruber’s.

2018 Predictions and Resolutions: A Renewed Focus on Software Testing

As Apple has grown rapidly over the past five years, there have been an increasing number of complaints regarding their quality control, especially when it comes to their software. Some of the issues are understandable, as keeping such a massive catalogue of software products up to date is certainly a big challenge. However, when you are as profitable and successful as Apple, no one is shedding any tears for your internal struggles. With their money and resources, they should be able to get the job done, and that needs to happen 2018.

CARROT Weather is My Favorite Apple Watch App

It may seem odd to choose a weather app as my favorite on Apple’s smallest screen, but this is actually one of the more useful categories on the Watch. Well, it should be, anyway. Unfortunately, many of the name brand watchOS weather apps fall somewhere between “meh” and flaming hot garbage right now. The Weather Channel’s app description on the App Store still refers to Glances, which have been gone for over a year now, so that should give you a good idea of the state of things.
