As launch day nears, we’re learning a little more about the tech specs of the new iPad. We already knew a lot of them of course, courtesy of Apple’s own Tech Specs page for the 3rd-gen iPad.
Now we also know about a couple of details that Apple was a little shy on:
— The new iPad has 1GB of RAM – twice as much as in the original iPad and iPad 2.
— The processor in the new iPad is a dual-core as in the iPad 2 and is clocked at 1GHz like the iPad 2 as well. While Apple hailed the quad-core graphics processor in the new iPad they didn’t talk much about the processor itself.
We’ve learned these details thanks to the Tinh.te Vietnamese language site, who have somehow got hold of a new iPad, posted a video unboxing of it, and run it through a series of Geekbench tests.
I’m very glad to hear that the new iPad has doubled up on RAM, and I hope the graphics processor is as impressive as Apple claims.
