First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. If you are celebrating here in the US today, I hope you are having a wonderful day filled with family, fun and lots of good food. I am looking forward to heading next door (yes, my Holiday travel is absolutely BRUTAL) and partaking in our family’s traditional feast in about an hour. I can’t wait. For our fairly large crew, turkey is the sideshow. My Mom’s Chicken and Dumplings and Dressing are the stars of the show. I skipped breakfast to make room, so now I’m really hungry.
Ok, back to business…
If you are looking to buy an iPad for Christmas, then you should be looking right now and buying sometime between today and the end of the weekend. There are some really good deals to be had on each model in the lineup.
The newly refreshed 10.2″ iPad is a great device at it’s normal retail price of $329. It’s a flat-out steal at it’s current low price of $237.50. You can get that one if you are a Target RED Card member. Fred Meyer will have it for $239, but not until tomorrow. It isn’t currently listed on their site.
The typical price around the Black Friday web is $249, so if you don’t want to worry with Target’s card or wait on Fred Meyer, that’s still a great price. You can get this deal from BestBuy, Amazon, Staples and others right now.
I’m surprised by this, but I haven’t found a single iPad Mini sale going during Black Friday. Not one. You can use discounts cards or rewards to knock the price down a bit, or maybe go with an Open Box Deal, but the retail price is standing firm at $399.99 for now. The 10.2″ iPad is a much better value this Holiday season unless the Mini’s small size is a must-have.
The middle child of the iPad lineup is also not getting a lot of attention. However, it has shown up in one deal. Amazon had it for $399 yesterday, but it has gone out of stock since then. If you are looking for a little more power than the 10.2″ iPad provides, then this is a good option if it comes back in stock.
And now on to the big boy. The high price of the iPad Pros mean they will never be the top sellers during Holiday shopping. The iPad and the Mini will always move more units. However, if you are buying for a serious digital artist or photographer, or have an older student who prefers the iOS experience, then this is the device to buy. Fortunately, there are good deals to be had this week.
The best current deals on the 11″ Pro are at Amazon and BestBuy, as they are taking $150 off most iPad Pro models. BestBuy has knocked the usual $799 price of the base model 11″ Pro down to $649. All other versions of the 11″ model are also $150 off. Amazon is offering the same deal on the 11″ 64GB and 256GB models, but is taking $200 off the 512GB version.
BestBuy’s sale does not include the larger 12.9″ iPad Pro, but Amazon’s does. They are offering $100 the base 64GB model at $899 and $150 off the 256GB and 512GB models. If you or someone you are buying for likes the big boy like me, then this is the best deal around at the moment.
If you are hunting iPads today, I wish you the best of luck. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
