Rdio, the excellent music streaming service, has updated its iPad and iPhone app this week – to Version 2.5.3. Here’s the short but very sweet list of changes:
• Recommendations. A new destination for discovering what to play next. Find albums similar to what you’ve been listening to, plus stations and playlists popular with your friends or in your area.
• Redesigned Stations Player. Three-track display now showcases album art for the previous, currently playing and next tracks. Swipe to easily skip to the next track.
• Various UI improvements and minor bug fixes.
I’ve been using Rdio for many months now, after previously trying out Spotify, Google Play Music All Access, and other similar services. For me, one of the biggest reasons for going with Rdio is that it’s got a great UI and great apps across many platforms. I use it regularly on Mac, iOS, Android, and in a browser on a Windows laptop.
Another thing I like a lot about Rdio is that it’s getting updated frequently and bringing major improvements in just about every update. This one is no exception. The new Recommendations section is making good suggestions and the new look for the Stations is great.
If you’re looking for a great music app / service for your mobile devices Rdio is well worth a look. Here’s an App Store link for Rdio for iPad and iPhone.
