The Times of London iPad edition ha had a recent update (around 10 days ago) to Version 2.0. This version adds some good content, and crosswords, to the iPad edition – here are the details on what’s new:
The Times of London has now released version 2.0, which in the coming weeks will include exciting new features such as:
-A dedicated section each day from Monday to Friday: The Game, Body & Soul, Fashion, The Table, Arts & Ents
-Interactive crosswords: the world-famous Cryptic and the ever-popular Concise, to solve on screen
-Bricks & Mortar: the essential property section every Friday.
You’ll have access to our star columnists including Matthew Parris, Caitlin Moran, Giles Coren, Dr Tanya Byron, Dr Mark Porter, Heston Blumenthal and many more.
Although it’s always good to see some strong new content for an iPad newspaper app, I still feel disappointed that in a big 2.0 update, The Times of London has still not added more basic features or enhancements that embrace the iPad platform better.
Just as when I reviewed the app all the way back in June, there are still no social elements to the app at all. No ability to email an article author, comment on articles, share articles via Twitter or Facebook or email, nothing at all in this area.
There is also still very little interactive or multimedia content. Bottom line is that it still doesn’t feel very much like an iPad edition at all.
