Here’s some impressive evidence of how the iPad is establishing itself in the gaming arena, from a report at Industry Gamers, here’s a quote from no less an authority than EA’s CEO, John Riccitiello:
We have a new hardware platform and we’re putting out software every 90 days. Our fastest growing platform is the iPad right now and that didn’t exist 18 months ago.
Apple Insider highlighted a key reason cited by Riccitiello for the attraction of the iPad:
… Riccitiello said the traditional cycle of new generations of gaming consoles that appear every five years is "not a particularly smart way to run an industry," in contrast to the model of Apple’s iOS App Store, which supports continuous development that supports EA "putting out software every 90 days."
And the iPad’s momentum should only increase with the release of iOS 5 and AirPlay mirroring, which will allow users with an Apple TV to throw their iPad 2 games up onto their even bigger HD TV screens.
It’s amazing how the iPad seems to have incredible momentum on all fronts just now – a massive consumer hit, major inroads in the enterprise, growing adoption by educational institutions, and now a real player in the gaming arena.
