The 2021 12.9″ iPad Pro Will Be Bigger in More Ways Than One

Magic Keyboard Closed

After a long wait, we are finally on the doorstep of Apple’s first event of 2021, which will include the announcement of (and hopefully pre-order for) their latest update to the iPad Pro. There are a couple of changes to this year’s model beyond the MiniLED screen and spec bumps that you may want to be aware of before said pre-orders open up.

Apple’s Spring Event is Finally in Sight

Apple Spring Loaded Event

First we thought Apple’s Spring Event would be in March. Then it wasn’t. Then it was supposed to be in April. Then we heard new hardware might launch this month, but with no event at all. Then there was rumor last week that iPads and MacBook Pros could possibly be delayed until later in the year because of the ongoing international semiconductor shortage.

According to Mark Gurman, I Guessed Right About the iPad Pro Release

iPad Pro

I wrote about some of the rumors that Apple’s coming iPad and MacBook Pros could be delayed and/or severely constrained a couple of days ago. Based on what little we knew at the time, I guessed that Apple would still release their new iPad Pros soon, even if the models have to be staggered and are only available in limited quantities.

Today we got some trustworthy reporting that’s making me feel pretty good about that educated guess.

Will the 2021 iPad Pro Fall Victim to the Global Chip Shortage?

iPad Pro

So far, Apple has weathered the global chip shortage better than just about any other major electronics manufacturer. They have continued to ship Macs, iPads and iPhones on time and keep them in stock, or at least more so than their biggest competitors.

This is likely due to the company’s size and incredible buying power. For over a decade, Apple has committed a large amount of money and resources to make sure they are the top priority for their suppliers. That has served them well with supplies now in a bind.

It’s April Fool’s Day, and it also happens to be Apple’s 45th birthday. It sounds like a great day to start thinking about their new hardware that we keep hearing about, but continues to stay just out of reach.

Sounds Like Apple’s Spring Event Will Be Delayed [Updated]

Or maybe a more fitting title would be Tim Cook Strikes Back

I posted yesterday about Apple’s long-rumored Spring Event featuring new iPad Pros being “delayed.” Based on some information that came out after I wrote that post, it looks like that event wasn’t delayed at all, because it never existed in the first place.

March 23rd Sounds Like a Great Day for an Apple Event

There’s a new rumored date for Apple’s spring event, but this time it comes from a source with a real track record. In fact, according to AppleTrack, this leaker is currently at the top of the pile when it comes to Apple rumors.

OK Apple, Time to Bring on the New iPad Pro

Magic Keyboard Side

After a month and a half with the iPad Air, I’m ready to go back

I’ve always preferred the 12.9″ iPad Pros since I first bought one in the Summer of 2015. I know it isn’t the most popular size of Apple tablet, but it’s been the perfect one for me. That size screen has only become more useful as Apple has added features to iPadOS and enhanced things like multitasking over the past few years.

The iPad Air is a Solid Stand-In for My Old iPad Pro

Logitech Folio Touch for iPad Air Drawing

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about possibly selling my 2018 iPad Pro to raise some money for the new miniLED version that most analysts and leakers expect to arrive in a little over a month. It actually just sold yesterday on Swappa, but I actually put it up for safekeeping right after writing that article.
