Review: Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard Case for iPad Pro

Logitech Combo Touch Box

I’ve reviewed more keyboard cases than I count off the top of my head. I have covered Apple’s Smart Keyboard (hated it), Smart Keyboard Folio (disliked it), and Magic Keyboard (really liked it and still own it), as well as all of the recent iPad Pro models from Logitech and Brydge. I also covered many keyboard cases from several manufacturers, all the way back to some of the first for the iPad 2 in 2011 in my former writing position. You could say iPad keyboard cases are kind of my thing and have been for a long time.

Living with Apple’s 2021 iPad Pro: Coming into Focus

2021 IPad Pro Rear Camera

It’s been over a week now and life with the 2021 iPad Pro is good. I certainly didn’t expect any different, but it’s fun to discover the little upgrades and features that separate each new Apple device from the one that preceded it.

Another Shortcoming of iPadOS Has Been Revealed. Will Apple Address it at WWDC?

Many of the remaining limitations of iPadOS are well documented. There’s no user account system for multiple users. We don’t have true extended monitor support. Multitasking has its rough edges. File management isn’t as powerful as many would like it to be. There are others, as well. Apple has been addressing such things, but it’s a slow process that wears on many fans of the platform.

A few days ago, we learned of another limitation that’s been hidden in the background, but is definitely holding the iPad Pro hardware back from reaching its true potential.

Living with Apple’s 2021 iPad Pro: Playing Around

NBA 2K19 on the 2021 iPad Pro

Not long after I got the original iPad in the summer of 2010, I remember thinking that it could be the future of mobile gaming. I knew it would take a while to find out, but it felt like that was a real possibility. As popular as Nintendo’s DS hardware was, this massive touchscreen tablet seemed destined to be the next thing to me. Apple’s App Store was already making major inroads into gaming, and there for a while, the iPad also did quite well. However, it never did live up to all its potential.

Eleven years later, the situation is much the same. Nintendo got smart and released a console that you can play anywhere and held its ground in the mobile gaming space. Unfortunately, Apple still seems content to hang around on the margins. They occasionally add features and talk about gaming, but I think they are happy to just keep ringing the cash register that is in-app payments on mediocre fremium titles. Apple Arcade gave me some hope, but even that effort hasn’t quite lived up to expectations yet. That is really unfortunate, because the new 12.9″ iPad Pro has tremendous potential as a gaming device.

Living with Apple’s 2021 iPad Pro: Getting Acquainted

2021 iPad Pro with Logitech Combo Touch

After a day of getting apps up to date and doing some basic testing, I am starting to get a feel for the new iPad Pro. There is still plenty to learn, especially when it comes finding something that will cause this hardware to even break a sweat. I haven’t gotten there yet, but it’s coming.

Living with Apple’s 2021 iPad Pro: Take it From the Top

2021 12.9” iPad Pro Box

My new Silver 12.9” iPad Pro arrived yesterday and I am finally getting to kick the tires a little. I got home around 11 PM last night, so that at least gave me enough time to set it up and get the iCloud Restore process started. That meant it was fully charged and ready to roll first thing this morning.

It’s iPad Pro Day!

2021 iPad Pro m1

Today is the day for those of us who managed to get into the online Apple Store and place our orders while supplies held out. I just checked the tracking on mine and it left Louisville, KY Thursday morning, arrived in Nashville, TN that evening, and is now showing up at the depot in my small suburb as “Preparing for Delivery.” I finally feel confident it will actually arrive today.

T-Minus One Week Until New iPad Pros Start Arriving

Logitech Combo Touch

We are now under the one week mark until Apple’s new iPad Pros start arriving in the hands of users. The first round of devices started showing up as shipped a couple of days ago and delivery date notifications followed soon after. I was very pleased to see I am in that first group of deliveries on Friday, May 21st that everyone was aiming for.

2021 iPad Pro Update: Cards Are Being Charged!

2021 ipad pro

One of the first signs of life before any Apple product starts its journey to a new owner is the processing of the payment. Apple didn’t get rich for no reason. Nothing ships out until they get their money, but that’s no different than anything else, right?

The iPad’s Turning Point Was More Recent Than You Might Think

There has been a lot of talk about what Apple is doing with the iPad Pro and how they should proceed with the development of both the hardware and software since the latest models were announced last week. Whether they did it intentionally or not, Apple stoked this fire when they chose to use the M1 branding for the new iPad Pro’s processor. This move naturally linked the new Pro with their successful M1 Macs released late last year and got people talking about the limitations that still hold the iPad Pro back in various ways.

Yes, even as a big fan of iPadOS and Apple’s tablets, I can admit that there are still a number of limitations, especially when contrasted with the power of recent iPad Pro models.

Apple’s Best Path For the iPad is to Keep iPadOS and macOS Separate

2021 iPad Pro m1

Most Apple fans have expected this year’s iPad Pro to be a powerhouse for a while now. Last year’s model only got the tiniest of spec bumps and processing upgrades, so it made sense that Apple would include its latest and greatest in this new tablet. However, when they chose to call the new processor M1 rather than A14X, the conversation around the iPad Pro took a turn.
