Long Lines Again for iPad 2 Launch Day in 25 Countries Today

The iPad 2 goes on sale at retail stores in 25 countries today, and it looks like long lines will be a feature of the buying process on launch day, just as they were here in the US. BGR has an article up with details on huge lines in Australia and elsewhere, and some people who lined up for days to get an iPad 2.

They’ve also got a video clip showing a very large line at a mall in Toronto, Canada at 9:30 in the morning – more than seven hours before the iPad 2 goes on sale.

For all of you online today, good luck – hope you get one. For those of you who placed online orders, hope they ship to you soon. If you want to share your online or in line experiences today, we’d love to hear about them in the comments.

Apple Confirms iPad 2 Launching in 25 Countries This Friday, 3 More in April

iPad2 Black and White Models

Apple confirmed today that the iPad 2 will be released (as originally promised at the iPad 2 unveiling event) in 25 countries this Friday, the 25th of March. They also announced that the iPad 2 will be launched in another three countries in April – Hong Kong, Korea, and Singapore.

Just as in the US launch of the iPad 2, it will go on sale at Apple retail stores in the 25 countries at 5:00PM local time on Friday – and in the online store (apple.com) at 1:00AM.

Apple’s press release on this includes a quote from Steve Jobs saying that Apple is ‘experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US’, but not offering any initial sales numbers for the iPad 2. Here’s the section of the release on pricing and availability:

Pricing & Availability
iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK on March 25 for a suggested retail price of $499 (US) for the 16GB model, $599 (US) for the 32GB model, $699 (US) the 64GB model. iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G will be available for a suggested retail price of $629 (US) for the 16GB model, $729 (US) for the 32GB model and $829 (US) for the 64GB model. iPad 2 will be available in Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and additional countries in April, and in many more countries around the world in the coming months. Further international availability and pricing will be announced at a later date.

iPad 2 Launch in Czech Republic Not Delayed, Set for March 25

It looks like the recent rumors that the iPad 2 launch in the Czech Republic would get pushed back a month are not true. It appears that when Apple’s iPad 2 page for the country showed a launch date of April 25 – a month later than the promised 3/25 launch alongside 24 other nations – was just a typo.

The site is now showing March 25 as the launch date again.

Hopefully this means the first stage of the iPad 2 international rollout will go ahead as scheduled this Friday. If it does, it will be very interesting to see what sort of stock levels are available in those 24 countries (the original 25 minus Japan).
