DODOCase Magic Keyboard Case

Review: DODOcase Magic Keyboard Case for iPad Pro 12.9

DODOCase Magic Keyboard Case

Thanks to the popularity of Apple’s Magic Keyboard, a new type of case for the iPad Pro has emerged over the last year. There are plenty of bags and sleeves out there that will hold a Pro and MK together and I’ve reviewed a few of those in recent months. However, the more interesting cases I’m seeing now are those that not only hold an iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard, but also allow you to use them together without removing the from it.

Are You Looking For a Space Gray Keyboard Since Apple Killed Theirs?

Satechi X1 Keyboard and Aluminum Desktop Stand Together

I saw the news last week that Apple is pulling the plug on its Space Gray computer accessories following the demise of the iMac Pro. Getting rid of the computer makes sense now that the company came out with the Mac Pro in late 2019 and is also in the midst of transitioning to a new processor platform. However, I can’t understand the reasoning behind killing off the popular accessories that came out alongside the iMac Pro.

Looks Like the Current Magic Keyboards Won’t Work With the New 12.9″ iPad Pros

Magic Keyboard Side

Really, Apple?

I guess this falls under Apple not being able to see into the future. That, or maybe they just have a cynical view of how it relates to products. Either way, according to a report from French site iGeneration (via 9to5Mac), Apple’s current 12.9″ Magic Keyboards that were released just over a year ago will not fit the just-announced 2021 12.9″ iPad Pro. That’s not the news I was looking for today.

Logitech Folio Touch for iPad Air Drawing

The iPad Air is a Solid Stand-In for My Old iPad Pro

Logitech Folio Touch for iPad Air Drawing

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about possibly selling my 2018 iPad Pro to raise some money for the new miniLED version that most analysts and leakers expect to arrive in a little over a month. It actually just sold yesterday on Swappa, but I actually put it up for safekeeping right after writing that article.

My iPad Predictions Scorecard for 2020

IPad Air 4 Back

One year ago today, I made a predictions post for what I expected from Apple for the iPad in 2020. Whether you have sources or not (and I definitely have none), you should be willing to keep score if you are going to step out and make them. With that in mind, here’s a look back at how I fared with those predictions.

Apple’s New Patent for Reconfigurable Keyboards is Really Interesting

MacBook Pro

Mac users everywhere rejoiced when Apple dumped their butterfly keyboard design for a tried and true scissor switch mechanism last year. Now the keyboards on newer Macs, as well as the Magic Keyboard for the iPads Pro and Air, have the latest and greatest design and Apple fans have made it very clear that they’re in favor of the switch.

While I’m not eager to see Apple fooling around with their key mechanisms again anytime soon, I am intrigued by the possibilities that may be in store for the keys themselves based on a patent they were awarded today.

Deals: Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro

I don’t usually post deals from Amazon, but this one is pretty sold by Apple product standards. If you are looking for a last minute Christmas gift for an iPad Pro user, or maybe a stocking stuffer for yourself, this is a pretty good deal for late in the game.

Logitech Folio Touch for iPad Air

Logitech’s Folio Touch Keyboard Case for the iPad Air is a Winner

Logitech Folio Touch for iPad Air

I tried buying a Logitech Folio Touch for the 11” iPad Pro before my new iPad Air arrived last week. I knew that cases for the two should be interchangeable and that is true except for one not so little detail- TouchID. Many iPad cases cover the Power button with flexible material. Unfortunately, the Folio Touch for the 11” Pro  does this, rendering TouchID on the iPad Air unusable.

Unfortunately, the model for the new iPad Air wasn’t in stock at any of my BestBuys yet, but I was able to get one shipped and it arrived last week while I was working out of town, so I started kicking the tires on it this weekend.

Harber London Magnetic Envelop Sleeve Magnetic Closure Flap

Review: Harber London Magnetic Envelope Sleeve for iPad Pro

Harber London Magnetic Envelop Sleeve

I reviewed Harber London’s Carry-All iPad Folio in the large size back in July and came away impressed with the quality of both the design and materials. The only issue I had with it was that the large version dwarfed my 12.9″ iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard. In fact, it was so big that my 15.6″ Lenovo Yoga C940 fit in it just fine.

I went ahead and reviewed it as an iPad Pro case, despite the massive size. However, I talked to a rep at Harber London about getting the medium version, which would be a much closer fit for my iPad Pro. They were sold out at the time, but asked if I would be interested in taking a look at a new product that is also compatible with the Magic Keyboard. In the end, I’m very pleased that I agreed.

Review: Twelve South BookBook Cover for iPad + Keyboard

I’ve owned a couple of Twelve South products in the past and reviewed at least one elsewhere, so I know their reputation well. However, even though I’ve been aware of their popular BookBook cases for years and always thought they looked unique and interesting, I’ve newer owned or tried one. So when someone from Twelve South reached out to me about reviewing the latest version of their leather case for the iPad Pro, I was immediately interested.

However, that wasn’t the only reason I wanted to check out this case. While Twelve South has offered a version of the BookBook for the 2020 iPad Pro design for months, this newer version is made specifically for the combo of the iPad Pro and an Apple Keyboard. While it is capable of holding an iPad Pro alone, it can also protect one while it’s attached to a new Magic Keyboard.

Two Months with the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro

Magic Keyboard

I first wrote about Apple’s Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro a little over two months ago, right after it was released. I’ve logged many hours with this versatile accessory since then and I have to say that it’s been an interesting experience. My overall opinion of it has changed over this time, mostly for the better.
