What do those two things have to with each other? Very little, but bear with me for a moment.
Since Apple announced MagSafe magnetic wireless charging along with the iPhone 12, people have been wondering when we would start seeing MagSafe battery packs for iPhone. The second question is whether Apple would replace their Smart Battery Case with MagSafe battery pack of their own.
Apple’s Smart Battery Cases certainly aren’t anything new. They have been around since 2015 and the iPhone 6S. However, since I have had really good success with all-day battery life using Plus and Max-sized devices since the iPhone 6, I never bought, or even tried one. Until recently, that is.
Even though the iPhone 11 Pro Max has delivered some of the best battery life that I’ve ever enjoyed, I decided to pick one up a month ago. I had some work travel coming up at the time and I can’t always count on easy charging in meeting venues. You never can tell how much you might need to use your phone to take pictures, stay connected, or for your own Internet connection. All of that can take a big toll on your battery life. I figured a little insurance would be a good idea.
Apple released their AirPods Pro to plenty of fanfare and rave reviews a few weeks ago. The common assumption at the time was that they would continue releasing additional devices and accessories that week, well ahead of Black Friday and the Holiday shopping season. However, the rest of said week came and went with nothing but silence from Apple.
Because of this, I wondered if maybe Apple was done releasing hardware for the year fifteen days ago. They had passed the point of any new releases getting prime placement during Black Friday sales, so it just seemed like maybe they were done, at least on the consumer products side. Shows what I know.
A week ago yesterday, Apple announced their new AirPods Pro with a press release and got the tech world talking. For those of us who ordered early enough or found them in stock, they arrived just a few days later. It was easy to assume they wouldn’t be the only new Apple items released before the Christmas shopping season, either, as Apple rolled out a few new items over consecutive days back in the Spring via press releases.
