The Guardian iPad Edition Is in the App Store Now

Sometime last night The Guardian iPad Edition was released, and it’s available now in the App Store.

It’s a free app for a limited time, then available via subscription at £9.99 per month (around $16/month) for six issues per week (Monday-Saturday). Here’s the opening of its App Store intro:

The Guardian iPad edition beautifully re-imagines the newspaper for the iPad. Each issue showcases our comprehensive international reporting, thoughtful commentary, award-winning sports journalism and unique approach to coverage of culture, science, the environment, media and technology.

The Guardian iPad Edition Coming ‘Any Day Now’

I mentioned the other day that The Guardian iPad Edition is coming soon to the iPad App Store.

It looks like soon may end up being very soon indeed. The Guardian’s editor recently tweeted ‘any day now’ in relation to the expected release date.

More good news – the app will be free for three months, followed presumably by subscription options.

Here’s hoping we see this hit the App Store this week

Here’s something I’ve been looking forward to hearing for a long while now:

The Guardian iPad edition, which is launching very soon, will showcase our comprehensive international reporting, thoughtful commentary, award-winning sports journalism and unique approach to coverage of culture, science and technology in a format completely re-imagined for the iPad.

I spent a number of years living in the UK, and The Guardian was and remains a big favorite title amongst a number of quality newspapers published there. It’s a newspaper that is rightly recognized for both the superb quality of writing found in it and for its design and style.
